A long, loud and sometimes personal battle over a proposed art museum in the Presidio has filled Gap founder Donald Fisher with "disappointment and sadness" according a press release issued by him and his family.

At issue is the proposed site of the Contemporary Art Museum of the Presidio, or "CAMP" for short, where Fisher wanted to hang his personal collection of 20th century art.

The Fishers are still looking in the Presidio, but in a passive-aggressive threat, are also considering locations outside the Bay Area.

Critics would like to see a museum built, just not necessarily at the Main Post location.

The Presidio is a National Historic Landmark managed by the private, non-profit Presidio Trust.

Even lavish riches from years of importing cheap clothes from poorly paid workers to sell in the United States promised by the Fishers toward rennovating other parts of the grounds weren't enough to sway detractors.

Presumably whatever site is chosen will start with "P," for any other location would jeopardize the tragic title of the project.

Jackson West would be filled with disappointment and sadness if any more monuments by Richard Serra are erected in San Francisco.
