FINGER-LICKIN' GOOD: This is probably the best idea ever: a fried chicken contest free to entrants and only $5 for those who just want to eat a lot of greasy chicken. Check it out at 6 p.m. at Omnivore Books on Food in San Francisco. Winners get cash, and everyone gets a stomach full of deliciousness.

I LOVE THE 90s: Remember the days of Pulp Fiction, boy bands, and American Pie? Dance away the night. 90s-style at Slide in San Francisco at 9 p.m. Be sure to wear your best 90s-inspired outfit (flannel shirts, anyone?). Email viktor@maxvangeli.com to get on the guestlist.

FREE FLICK: Watch the 1989 horror film "Dead Calm" for free on giant screens near the waterfront in Oakland. A trivia game will start at 7:30 p.m., and the movie begins at sundown at Jack London Square.
