THAI RIVER FESTIVAL: Loi Krathong—Thailand's annual river festival of lights—includes the ethereal practice of floating offerings along waterways, usually performed on a full moon night. Join the Asian Art Museum at MATCHA for their own Loi Krathong celebration, with classical dance, live music, puppet performance, cuisine and cocktails. Events begin at 8 p.m.

Coming from the heat of the city's celebrity street chef movement, the Commonwealth Club hosts The Street Food Movement: SF Hearts the Cart. Hear the discussion at 6:30 p.m., the head to the street eats party at 111 Minna at 7:30 p.m.
ME TALK PRETTY ONE DAY: Best selling author and NPR commentator David Sedaris will appear for a special benefit reading for California College of the Arts at the Marin Center Veterans' Memorial Auditorium. At 8 p.m., Sedaris will read unpublished materials and host a book signing.
