Santigold Paints the City Gold

Fresh off opening for Coldplay, the pride and joy of Philadelphia brought her famed stage presence and her booming voice to the Warfield in San Francisco. And what ensued was nothing short of golden. Santigold surprisngly enough wore a gold suit as she took at stage at the Warfield in San Francisco. The Philly-based artist brought her flare and voice to a sold out show. And not only does she like to use her voice to entertain, Santigold doesn't mind making a move or two. Apparently she likes to squat too. The squats look that much more interesting in black and white. What do you think? And the sister has no problem raising her vocals. But like we said before, she likes to mix in a dance with her towering voice. Where did she get the name Santigold, you ask? She was born Santi White and she simply flipped her last name to gold. See how much more you can do with the word gold in your name than white? White lights behind a white jacket just wouldn't look as cool. Gold ceilings are a lot more dramatic than white ones. It's just a fact. And with the name gold you don't have to brag about your bling. Even in black and white, Santigold can flash her bling. The light just seems to follow her around. We mentioned she was wearing all gold right? Ironically enough her first and only album was called "Santogold" but she quickly realized Sanitgold was a better stage name and made the switch. Like all great artists, Santigold gets a little help from her live band. Santigold does a little dance. And we get an up close look. And the woman really likes to dance. Santigold is comfortable on stage regardless of what name she uses. She controlled the intimate set up at the Warfield. And she was able to easily switch between loud voice drops to hushed intimate moments with the crowd. And her showmanship was on display. Santigold was able to entertain the audience and keep them engaged despite having a limited catalogue to pull from.
