Check out this article for a list of fireworks displays around the Bay Area.

MINGLE WITH SINGLES: La Barca in the Marina hosts a single's event on the first Friday of every month. This one boasts an 80s cover band, no cover charge and drink specials all night. Stop by from 9 p.m. to close.

ALL THAT JAZZ: Get ready for the largest free jazz festival on the West Coast -- 10 city blocks and more than 90,000 people -- this Saturday at the 2009 Fillmore Jazz Festival. Check it out for free on Fillmore Street from Jackson to Eddy, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

CHEAP LAUGHS: See the same comedians who headline at places with expensive tickets and two-drink minimums for only $10 at 4-Star Theater. Start yucking it up at 11p.m. Saturday.

AY AY, CAPTAIN: What better place to feel patriotic than the deck of an aircraft carrier? Visit the USS Hornet in Alameda from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and enjoy live music, tours, beer and wine. Tickets are $10 to $25.

SUNDAY REGGAE PARTY: Agenda Restaurant and Lounge in San Jose has hosted the longest-running reggae party in the Bay Area since 1995. Enjoy two levels of dancing and lots of awesome reggae beginning at 9 p.m.
