Alice Waters Responds to Michelin Snub

Michelin released its famed San Francisco guide Tuesday and perhaps the biggest surprise of this year's list was not who made it but who didn't.

When the list came out, chef Alice Waters and her Berkeley based Chez Pannisse was not on the list.

The popular slow food restaurant lost its one Michelin star from the previous year? But does the woman who conviced the Obamas to plant an organic garden at the White House care about the slight?

Not really. Chez Panisse issued a statement to Inside Scoop:

When Alice Waters opened Chez Panisse almost 40 years ago, she intended to create a place where people could come together with friends and family to eat a delicious, thoughtfully prepared meal in beautiful surroundings. To this day, that is the restaurant’s highest priority. Although Ms. Waters respects the traditions upon which the Michelin Guide bases its awards, she acknowledges that they aren’t the same traditions upon which Chez Panisse has built its reputation and success over the years.
