Bi-Rite Creamery to Take a Little Break

Popular ice cream shop set to expand into space next door

Lovers of salted caramel ice cream will have to put their jones on ice. The popular Mission ice creamery Bi-Rite will be closing its doors starting next Tuesday for two weeks.

But unlike other restaurants in the City who have "temporarily closed" only never to reopen, Bi-Rite is closing for a legitimate reason, and it doesn't involve the health inspector. The creamery is expanding its store to accommodate the throngs of hungry ice cream lovers who often descend on it at once. The shop will also add a window where soft serve ice cream will be served.

The construction doesn't mean that Bi-Rite addicts don't have to go without their favorite flavors for two weeks. Pre scooped bins will be available at the Bi-Rite market right across the street during the expansion project.
