Delano Markets Are Almost Certainly Closing Shop

Monday it was two stores and a day later the word is that all Bay Area Delano Markets will be closing their doors.

The staff at the store at 27th and Geary and the second store on 18th Street were given news of the closing before Thanksgiving, according to Grubstreet.

Now a manager at the South Van Ness store is telling Eater SF that "the Castro, Van Ness and Geary Street locations have all lost their leases." He says he is "99.99.99% sure they're closing."

Monday it was unclear what would happen to the stores. But it appears all of Delano's local markets have lost their lease.

The store in Tiburon was closed last year and the markets in the City have already posted signs announcing that they are reducing hours but there is no confirmation of the closure.

The Richmond SF blog suggests that the move could be a foreshadow of an impending bankruptcy filing. While others are suggesting that a vacated Castro location could be a perfect home for the troubled Trader Joe's.
