Hot off the EaterWire comes the breaking news that the SF Weekly has parted ways with its restaurant critic, Meredith Brody.

Per reliable sources, it was not her decision to leave. Indisputably one of the main restaurant critics in San Francisco, Brody was sometimes considered, shall we say, a polarizing figure, but if nothing else, she sure was enticing. Here's hoping she lands on her feet.

But the bright side of the situation is the Weekly isn't abandoning the restaurant critic position by any means. In fact, Village Voice Media will soon launch a nationwide search for a new restaurant critic, with the job ad expected to hit in the next few days.

And given that professional critic positions come up pretty rarely, especially in prized markets like San Francisco, one assumes the search should get a pretty strong response.
