Should he stay or should he go? That was the question facing the owner of the popular sandwich shop in the City known as Ike's Place.
Ike Shehadeh built up a cult following for his sandwiches with his "Dirty Secret Sauce" with people waiting up to two hours to get their hands on a meal.
But all of that came to an unceremoniously end in February when neighbors began to complain about the lines, litter and smells coming from the restaurant.
The complaints led to the on again, off again eviction of Ike's. And finally Shehadeh took things into his own hands and began selling sandwiches out of Lime on Market Street.
Now with cities salivating over the possibility of luring Ike's away from the City, Shehadeh is applying for a permit to open up down the street from his original troubled location, according SF Eater.
If approved, Ike's Place would open at 3489 16th St. in San Francisco, just a block away from the old location. Will a block away solve the traffic problems? We'll see.
