Where Would a San Francisco Warriors Arena Go?

Following yesterday's rather incredible rumor that Oakland's Golden State Warriors might be purchased and moved into a new arena in "downtown San Francisco," we wondered out loud where such an arena might be built.

According to the city's zoning administrator (and to a commenter), the arena thing's been floated before. In the '90s, the Planning Department explored the possibility of an arena at sites around Folsom and Main, but the proposal would have required a rerouting of Folsom, and later development has since preempted all that.

With that, we throw open the polls to sports fans and armchair planners, with suggestions mined from yesterday's comments, both serious and wacked out (and with a loose interpretation of "downtown San Francisco" as everything within city borders, minus any notions of island-making).
