Anne Hathaway is one of the many Hollywood stars expected to attend inauguration galas in Washington.

The Golden Globes are a week away and the Oscars just a little more than a month off. But many stylists are noticing that celebs are more interested in what they’ll wear for Barack Obama's presidential inauguration Jan. 20 than in their awards-show attire.

There's even a Web site, dressregistry.com, that aims to help women avoid the horror of the 2006 Kennedy Center Honors, when First Lady Laura Bush was one of four women in the same red Oscar de la Renta gown.

“(Celebrities and socialites) are taking the registry very seriously — no one wants to be the Laura Bush of this inauguration,” said one stylist.

A-listers are also scoring gowns via stylists for the inauguration, but handling awards shows on their own.

Said a source: “I know one actress — and she’s nominated for a Globe — and she told me she just walked into Saks and grabbed something she liked. ‘I’m over these shows,’ she said.”

The inauguration, though? "That’s a different story,” said the source.

Piven to pay back ‘Plow’ investors?
Sushigate is still on: Jeremy Piven, who reportedly fell victim to mercury poisoning so severe that he had to drop out of his Broadway show “Speed-the-Plow,” might have to repay investors for revenue lost due to his absence.

The New York Post’s Michael Riedel reports that “Plow” was a week away from returning its $3.5 million investment when Piven had to retreat to Los Angeles to convalesce.

According to the Riedel report: “The backers are hoping to ‘squeeze some money out of him," since he destroyed ‘our chances of making a profit,’ a source says.”

Producers are reportedly investigating Piven’s illness in order to determine whether they might be entitled to some repayment for lost revenue.

Here comes the bride
Despite reports that Jamie Lynn Spears’ relationship with fiancé Casey Aldridge has been strained as of late, the couple is moving ahead with wedding plans, according In Touch Weekly.

Specifically, Spears has chosen a Monique Lhuillier gown, ordered invitations and chosen a three-tiered chocolate cake for her big day.

Spears and Aldridge’s daughter, Maddie, is 7 months old; no firm date for the wedding has been set.

Bravest diet spokesperson in all the land
Country music singer Wynonna Judd has signed on to be the celebrity spokesperson for the alli weight-loss pill. And while we’re not in the habit of mentioning every face attached to every diet out there, the alli choice is a brave one, given the pill’s unfortunate possible gastrointestinal-related side effects.

Judd tells Scoop, though, “When I take alli … I don't wake up with what I call food hangover. I wake up, I feel cleaner. I feel stronger, and I make better choices to be more alive and active, especially with my kids.”

  • Lucy Saturday, Jan 10 at 8:01 PM FLAG COMMENT Every President is entitled to a special celebration. Consider all that goes in to every presidential campaign. Let people celebrate! The WORLD expects nothing less! It sounds like there are a few sour grapes out there. America has not suddenly become a socialist society-nor will it. Hollywood will not suddenly disintigrate, and I seriously doubt the Obama's are going to go overboard with the china. Like it or not, ther ... MORE >

  • False idols Friday, Jan 9 at 7:55 AM FLAG COMMENT The only people I dislike more than Obama are the celebrities that support Obama. They scream about the Republicans being rich elite....who makes more money than movie stars? Why is okay for democrats to have a big party but not republicans. Scary. Funny thing...now that we are turning into a socialist society (thanks to everyone who voted for Obama)...Hollywood stars will be unemployed....how sad.
  • Angelina Thursday, Jan 8 at 8:32 PM FLAG COMMENT Fiscally responsible...I agree with you, but believe he should have his inaugration and the expensive celebration should be put off. (I'm a big Obama supporter). We need to see the change he continually referenced throughout his campaign. Ninna, thanks for pointing out the "expensive" Bush China...! If we're going to start pointing "wasteful spending" let's make sure we mention all parties, especially when almost a mill ... MORE >
