Live Like a Socialite for $6.9M

While the Fashion & Style section of The New York Times recently cast socialite Cornelia Guest into the spotlight (something she's indeed quite familiar with), it is her Old Westbury, New York property that is taking center stage this week. According to Curbed, Guest's estate is now up for grabs for a cool $6.9 million.

Guest, the only daughter of the late society bigwig C.Z. Guest and steel heir Winston Frederick Churchill Guest, is selling the 15-acre family property dubbed "Templeton." The New York Times reports that Templeton, led by Guest's mother, hosted dinner parties in the estate's heyday for luminaries such as Yves Saint Laurent, Rudolf Nureyev, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor (Guest's godparents), and Nancy Reagan. Today, Guest lives in the sprawling abode as she undertakes a career nobody would ever envision for the woman named "Debutante of the Decade" in 1986... catering.

While Guest herself is certainly fascinating, so is her amazing 15-acre property, which boasts a grand 17,000-square-foot brick manor. The ornate mansion comes with 28 rooms, including nine bedrooms, six full baths, and two half baths. Built in 1924, the property's jaw-dropping amenities don't end there. Guest's estate boasts a pool, tennis court, three greenhouses, cottages, rose gardens, a 17-stall barn (Guest no longer maintains horses), paddocks and a caretakers cottage.

For $6.9 million, potential buyers will not only score a piece of society history, but they'll own a pretty sweet property to boot.
