Channing Tatum Joining Jonah Hill on “21 Jump Street”

Perhaps no one in Hollywood has done more to earn their money than Channing Tatum's agent.

Tatum is heading into talks to fight high school crime alongside Jonah Hill in the film adaptation of "21 Jump Street," accoridng to Deadline.

In addition to being one of the Fox Network's first hit shows, "21 Jump Street," about a crack team of young cops who infiltrated high schools across the fictional city of "Metropolis," somewhere in "The Evergreen State," also helped launch the career of Johnny Depp.

Jonah Hill has made this project happen almost by sheer force of will, talking about it at every opportunity. Last year, Hill described his vision for the film:

“[Sony execs said] they were gonna let me make my kind of movie—an R-rated, insane, Bad-Boys-meets-John Hughes-type movie—and I told them the second they don’t, I’m not gonna be involved anymore,” Hill tells Complex. “We’re not even spoofing the movie. It’s not strictly comedic, either. We’re doing a full-on action movie, blowing shit up.”

As big fans of John Hughes and "Bad Boys," with fond memories of "21 Jump Street," this sounds like a perfectly plausible and delightfully ridiculous possibility.

The script is being written by Michael Bacall ("Scott Pilgrim vs. the World"), who conceived the story with Hill, and the film will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the guys behind "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs." It's scheduled for release on March 16, 2012.
