Ryan Gosling Joins Steve Carell Comedy

Ryan Gosling is making a sharp u-turn from tragic romance to Steve Carell comedy.

John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the team that wrote "I Love You Philip Morris" will be directing, with a script from Dan Fogelman, who most recently did "Bolt." The film is scheduled to be released sometime next year.

"A father's life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children," reads the film's synopsis from IMDB. Carell will be the father and Gosling the "suave best friend," according to Variety, which managed to confirm the news first broken two days ago by LaineyGossip.

Gosling wowed audiences at this year's Sundance with his performance in "Blue Valentine" opposite Michelle Williams as a married couple who spends a weekend in New York City in a last ditch effort to save their marriage. That film is slated for a fall release.
