Steven Soderbergh Taking “The Bitter Pill”

Steven Soderbergh's insanely productive retirement will continue with a new thriller about the psychopharmcology industry.

Just a week after walking away from "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." in a dispute over budget, Soderbergh has signed on to helm Scott Z. Burns' screenplay, "The Bitter Pill," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Now the duo are fielding bids from multiple studios. After what happened with "U.N.C.L.E.," we're guessing Warner Brothers won't win.

Soderbergh has worked with Burns in the past, on "The Informant!" and this summer's "Contagion," suggesting that the men share an obsession with the food an drugs that are being spoon-fed to us.

It's unclear what exactly "Bitter Pill" is about, but it's easy enough to imagine a million horror stories taking place in labs and mental hospitals across the land.

Soderbergh's next film due out is "Haywire," starring MMA star Gina Carano as an ex-spy out for revenge against the men who double-crossed her.
