International travelers with an iPhone will have a new reason to get a Verizon or Sprint version of the new 4S version when it is finally released.
Verizon and Sprint have both confirmed that the new version of the Apple smartphone will come complete with a Micro SIM slot unlocked.
Users of the iPhone 4 on Verizion previously had to hope that they were in a country that supported CDMA data.
Verizon will offer free unlocking of the iPhone 4S after the first 60 days that users have been on the network.
The unlocked Micro SIM slot will allow iPhone 4S users on Sprint or Verizon to install a local sim wherever they travel and potentially save themselves a lot of money.
