Apple conducted a survey of its 127 facilities the company uses to build its products after being dogged by reports of assembly workers committing suicide and others being exposed to unsafe chemicals.
The Cupertino-based iPhone-maker released the results of its 2011 Supplier Responsibility Progress Report at a time when Apple was recently ranked at the bottom of a list of 29 multinational technology companies for responsiveness and transparency.
But the company found 37 core violations in 2010, up from 17 the year before. Problems included
underage labor and hazardous chemicals at 80 facilities.
