Apple Dominates Annual Google Zeitgeist

It's been a crazy year and leave it to Google to wrap it all up for us.

The Mountain View-based search company has put out its annual Google's Zeitgeist, which puts out the web's most popular stories of the past year based on billion of searches conducted on its site.

With disasters and web celebrities taking a large chunk of the year in memorial, ironically it was Google's biggest rival, Apple, that dominated the searches.

Apple's iPhone 5, which has still not gone live, the iPad 2 and the death of Steve Jobs were three of the top 10 fastest-rising searches.

The fastest rising query was YouTube sensation -- and annoyance -- Rebecca Black and singer Adele.
