Apple Hires NSA Security Expert Ahead of iPhone 5 Development

With one long-standing iPhone rumor finally confirmed, another is getting under way.

Apple has reportedly added several new component suppliers ahead of the development of the iPhone 5.

DigiTimes reports that Apple will spread the construction of its new smartphone out across several suppliers, with some suggesting that the move will allow the iPhone maker to offer more features, such as a rumored social media component called "Media Stream."

But one thing is for sure about the next generation iPhone: You won't find a prototype laying around at any Bay Area bars.

Apple has reportedly gotten serious about its secrecy again and hired former U.S. Naval cryptology officer and NSA global network vulnerability analyst David Rice to work as the company's director of security.

And in true retro Apple fashion the company has not confirmed the report or returned reporters' calls for comment.

Rice graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and has a master's degree in Information Warfare and Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
