Apple's New iPhone to Fall Like a Cat

Apple now has a patent that will make iPhones fall on one side -- think of it like a cat falling feet first.

The iPhone will be able to change its angle and fall on its more protected surface rather than its screen, according to Mashable. The technology would "estimate a point of impact and then shift the device's center of gravity to save iPhones from an early grave."

A motor would cause the phone to rotate before impact to land on its protected side with sensors helping its coordination. The patent could also allow the smartphone to "latch onto or eject headphone cables" during its fall and could add a possible gas canister to create thrust if needed in-flight.

It's unknown if all these things will make it to a prototype, but it would be nice to know that if you drop your expensive iPhone it's not immediately ruined with a smashed screen.
