Google is trying to make your inbox a little more manageable. Wednesday, they introduced their new Smart Filters, which will automatically sort out the wheat from the chaff for you.
Smart Filters promise to take mass emails, messages from group forums and notifications from other websites and segregate them from your important one-on-one emails. Combine this with their new Priority Inbox and you should have email that puts the important stuff up top where you can see it and hides away the unnecessary stuff until you have time to take a look at it. Sounds good to me.
