Google Doodles an Honor for Heinrich Hertz

Google has a thing for scientists.

And on days like today, the Mountain View-based search company can't help but reveal its crushes.

Wednesday's Google homepage has a new wavy doodle and it is dedicated to Heinrich Hertz. The German physicist would have been 155 Wednesday.

The wavy line shows off Google's colors and it celebrates Hert'z achievement of becoming the first person to prove the existence of electromagnetic waves.

He did this by using instruments to transmit and receive radio waves while ruling out other potential causes of the waves.

Google has a long history of honoring scientists on their birthday, including doodles inspired by the likes of Thomas Edison and Mary Curie.
