Zuckerberg: Twitter's a ‘Clown Car That Fell Into a Gold Mine'

Facebook founder and chief Mark Zuckerberg equated Twitter's success with a clown car falling into a gold mine, according to a new book.

"[Twitter] is such a mess – it’s as if they drove a clown car into a gold mine and fell in," Zuckerberg is quoted as saying in a new book, Hatching Twitter by New York Times tech reporter Nick Bilton.

The golden quote was discussed on Bloomberg TV by contributing editor Paul Kedrosky who was reviewing the book on the network's "Must Read" program.

The quote comes within the last three years, but likely more recently than that, Kedrosky said. Zuckerberg said it when he was frustrated by the startup not taking an acquisition offer.

We think the comment shows Zuckerberg's frustration with the situation and we can appreciate the humor of it. In a way, aren't all startups that achieve success also need a little luck, too? If you don't believe that, then check out Twitter's initial public offer.
