More Proof of an iPad ‘Mini'?

It was only last week that Press-Here reported on rumors that Apple was working on an iPad "Mini," not so much small in size but in price. Now, reports from Korea say that a subsidiary of LG has been sending 7.85-inch displays to Apple for testing -- which could mean the iPad "Mini" just might be a smaller version of the tablet computer.

Analyst Brian White of Ticonderoga Industries toured China and Taiwan and spoke of rumors he'd heard along his trip, saying that Apple was working on a stripped-down iPad they could sell for around $199, mainly to developing countries, which he dubbed the "Mini." However, the name referred to its price and smaller capabilities, not its actual size. Now, with reports the tablet computer could be made smaller, it's even more interesting for the tablet market. The pint-sized iPad could be wildly attractive to new buyers in the industrialized and developing worlds who want a smaller tablet.

Strangely, Apple's Steve Jobs hated the idea of a smaller tablet, including lambasting the 7-inch screen as a "tweener" that no one wants. So would Jobs have approved of shrinking the iPad's 9.7-inch screen to almost 8 inches?
