Nobody Puts Facebook in the Corner

"Dirty Dancing" was released nearly 25 years ago, when there was no such thing as social media, however, the romance has danced its way to a massive Facebook following.

Lionsgate's "Dirty Dancing" Facebook fan page has over 9.5 million "Likes" and doesn't seem to be slowing down.

The page has even racked up more than other blockbusters like "The Dark Knight" with 6.7 million, and "Iron Man" with a mere 4.5 million.

Lionsgate executive VP of home entertainment and marketing, Anne Parducci, told The Wrap.com that the flick has proven to be more popular on Facebook than the studio had hoped.

"It has exceeded our expectations, but it also comes with hard work and dedication on our behalf to build that audience," Parducci said.

A source at Lionsgate told the website, that the studio is also considering turning "Dirty Dancing" into a Facebook game.

Currently the Facebook page is used primarily to promote sales of the DVD and Blueray.
