Samsung Fighting iPhone 5 at Home

The legal battles over whether Samsung's patented technologies (used or not used) used in iPhones has broken out on a global scale.

Apple has already won injunctions against Samsung devices in Germany and Australia. Samsung has vowed to fight back in those two countries, as well as pre-emptive filings in its home country of South Korea.

The Korea Times reported that Samsung will seek a "complete ban of Apple iPhone 5 in Korea." One senior Samsung executive said:

"For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.’’

Ever since Apple had Samsung's Galaxy Tablet removed from its very own product launch in Germany, Samsung has been looking to exact a revenge.

A friendlier court in its home country may help deliver such a blow, forcing both companies -- who still partner, btw -- to find a negotated settlement to their patent war.
