White iPhone 4 Coming in April

Apple is starting production on its white iPhone 4 and is expected to start shipping the handheld in early April, reports said Wednesday.

Manufacturers will start production on the GSM-based iPhone 4 with "white enclosures" for distribution next month, Concord Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo told AppleInsider.  The white iPhone, originally promised in June, has taken months to complete mainly because of substandard paint. That issue has now been solved by a Japanese company, which gave Apple more precision and control over the paint thickness.

There was no word on when there would be a white CDMA-based iPhone 4.

While Kuo said there will be an iPhone 4 frenzy for a white handheld -- 18 million sold in three months -- I'm thinkiing sales will only get a slight boost. I'm certain that most of Apple's devoted consumers will already be spending their disposable income on an iPad 2 -- in either black or white.
