The Economist has a tear-your-hair-out story about how the state department of agriculture blocked a family from Iran from opening up a yogurt business. This doesn't make sense from a jobs perspective (why is California blocking a new business because of outdated 1947 regulations?) or as a matter of taste (your blogger, like many Angelenos, is a huge fan of Persian dairy products).
