Facebook Tries to Acquire Face.com: Report

Facebook reportedly wants a little more face in its life.

The Social Network is rumored to have tried to acquire Face.com, developers of face recognition software, according to TechCrunch.

The offer, worth "tens of millions of dollars," was reportedly turned down by the Israeli-based company last year.

But an article in Hebrew by TheMarker also points to a second rumor that has Facebook partnering with Face.com to power the Palo Alto-based company's facial recognition functionality.

Face.com's CEO declined to comment on both rumors to TechCrunch. But the move would make sense.

The company's facial recognition software has been hailed by many to be as accurate as can be expected and Facebook has recently upgraded its own facial recognition functionality.
