She's Got Royalties and Legislation to Protect Them, Babe

The Watchdog Institute has an interesting piece on Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack, who represents the Palm Springs area. The widow of the singer Sonny Bono, the congresswoman receives as much as $1 million a year in royalties from her late husband's work. She's also introduced and supported legislation that could benefit the companies that pay the royalties -- and could benefit artists and those who rely on such royalties.

From my reading, I don't see a great scandal here. But it is troubling that Bono Mack isn't disclosing all the sources of her royalty payments. Given her interest in legislation in this area, she needs to let the public know about every penny she gets from the entertainment industry.
