What Happens to the Recycling Money

    Most weekends, my toddler son and I take our bottles and cans to the recycling center at our local Ralph's. What happens to all the money flowing through the $1.2 billion state recycling program?

    For other recyclers who are curious, the Orange County Register has a nice piece that makes extensive use of a new report from the state auditor. The short answer: the program is profitable but has wasted millions.
