Alternative Tentacles Celebrates 33 1/3 Years

Party takes place at Slim's on Nov. 15

Just like the speed of a long-playing record, Alternative Tentacles, the label founded in San Francisco by musician and one-time mayoral candidate Jello Biafra, is turning a demure 33 1/3-years-old.

Alternative Tentacles is one of the Bay Area's most renowned independent punk and alternative rock label. Over the past three decades, it has released music by groups like Biafra's Dead Kennedys, Alice Donut, and D.O.A.

An anniversary concert is planned for Nov. 15 at Slim's. Biafra and his current band Guantanamo School of Medicine are the headliners. Also appearing are psychobilly king Mojo Nixon, the self-described "gospel power villains" of Death Hymn #9, and SF punk act Pins of Light.

The show is almost all ages: Those ages 6 and up are welcome.

General admission is $18.
