Bjork Will Play in Richmond

Craneway Pavilion date to be announced April 1

Björk has chosen an unlikely East Bay venue for her next Bay Area concert. A message on her Twitter account today announced that the Icelandic singer will perform at Craneway Pavilion.

2013 marks the 20-year anniversary of Björk's Debut.

This is often thought of as her first album, but she actually released a self-titled debut in 1977 — at the tender age of 12.

It is as yet unclear whether there will be one or more shows in the Bay Area, but any dates are expected to be revealed on April 1.

So if it sounds like an April Fool's Day joke that one of the world's most famous artists is playing in Richmond, rest assured that it's no joke and very real.

Update, April 1, 9:00 a.m.: Björk will bring her Biophilia live show to Craneway on May 22, 25, and 28. General admission tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on April 4 via Live Nation. Also, look for a Biophilia-inspired project to emerge in May at the Exploratorium in San Francisco.
