Brick and Mortar Music Hall Does Lunch

Rice Paper Scissors opens on Feb. 10

Brick and Mortar Music Hall is about to become a serious player in the local lunch world. The San Francisco concert venue will daylight as a cash-only afternoon restaurant hosted by Rice Paper Scissors beginning on February 10.

Rice Paper Scissors, which offers homestyle modern Vietnamese food, has up until now been operating as a roaming pop-up venture for the past three years. The cooking and concept by Katie Kwan and Valerie Luu even attracted the attention of celebrity food personality Anthony Bourdain, who featured Rice Paper Scissors in an episode of his Travel Channel series The Layover.

The lunch menu averages $6-13 and includes items such as fried egg sandwiches, beef pho and vegan yellow curry made with local produce, all served with slow-drip Vietnamese coffee and fermented ginger beer.

Initial hours for eat-in and takeout lunch service will be Monday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., but will eventually be expanded to each weekday. Weekend brunch service is also a future possibility.
