The 11th annual SF Funk Festival brings live music to venues throughout San Francisco in the month of November to showcase the classic and new school iterations of the genre.

Highlights of the schedule so far include former James Brown players Fred Wesley and the New JB's featuring Clyde Stubblefield, Jabo Starks and Fred Thomas, who are set to share the bill with Bay Area rapper Lyrics Born at the opening event (November 3 at Mezzanine); New Orleans' Rebirth Brass Band in a two-night stint in the city (November 9-10 at Mezzanine); and a party with Bay Area native and DJ Peanut Butter Wolf, Fort Knox 5 and All Good Funk Alliance, which both hail from the Southeast (November 16 at Mighty).

Eight shows have been announced so far, with more to come later this month. The official website has the full schedule to date and will have all the updates.
