There's a Riot Goin' On in 24 karats

Legendary Bay Area act Sly & The Family Stone earned gold and platinum records at the height of their career for selling millions of albums. Now, the group's seminal album is being reissued on a CD embedded with 24-karat gold.

The fifth album for the groundbreaking, multicultural band, There's a Riot Goin' On was first released in 1971 and shot to the top of Billboard's pop and soul charts. The first single "Family Affair" was also a number one hit. The album was recorded partially at The Record Plant studio in Sausalito, in a Winnebago, and at Stone's former Bel Air home.

In addition to the gold accents on the CD, the new reissue of Riot boasts of an embroidered American flag cover and a 48-page book of liner notes.

The album is available for pre-order for $24.98 via the Get On Down label starting today (June 26) and will be released on July 30.
