The Castro Theatre will soon lose its iconic Wurlitzer organ (the owner has moved), but you can help fund the creation of a unique new instrument.
An Indiegogo campaign aims to raise $60,000 by Aug. 28 to build the largest hybrid pipe/digital organ in the world. It will feature seven keyboards and more than 800 stops and have the capability to produce the sounds of a full symphony orchestra.
Reward incentives for donating include digital downloads of organ music, event tickets, and — for high rollers — private organ parties and concerts.
