ZZ Topless' motto is "All of the rock, none of the beards."

One of the East Bay's most unusual cover bands is ZZ Topless, a female-fronted tribute to bearded Eighties rock sensations ZZ Top.

Mary Redente, "Reverend" Damon W., Peter Libby, and Peter Marietta (the latter the only member with an actual beard, at least sometimes) describe their sound as the "martini to ZZ Top's bourbon" and the "love child of Etta James and Dusty Springfield fronting a slightly more cosmopolitan version of ZZ Top."

Curious? Catch ZZ Topless with David Bowie tribute act Cat People and the Led Zeppelin-themed Physical Graffiti at Starry Plough (3101 Shattuck Avenue) in Berkeley at 8 PM on October 4.
