San Francisco Giants announcer Mike Krukow has committed decades to the fans, now he's asking for their support.

Krukow took the field at AT&T Park Sunday to talk about inclusion body myositis. He was diagnosed with the disease nine years ago, but is speaking publicly about the disease for the first time.

The disease causes progressive muscle weakness in the legs and hands. Doctors don't know what causes it or how to treat it.

Krukow said he's continuing his fight alongside fellow patients.

"We want to basically let you know that we're here,” he said Sunday. “We're the group, we support one another, and we are looking for your support as well."

The crowd responded to the heartfelt plea for support with a loud ovation.
