Play Ball! Giants Play Dodgers in San Francisco Home Opener

Peanuts and popcorn, move over.

Porcini donuts and orange beer trump the standard baseball fare at AT&T Park, where the San Francisco Giants are playing the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday at the team’s annual home opener of the season.

The two teams are arch rivals, and their long and storied history even has its own Dodgers-Giants website, where their historical highlights are documented, beginning with their first exhibition game against each other in 1884.

The Giants won that game, 8-0.

The Giants have been the World Series champs three times since arriving in San Francisco, in 2010, 2012 and 2012.

In an interview during spring training, Catcher  Buster Posey told CSNBay Area that he's feeling optimistic about this season, too.

"On paper, we look pretty strong this year," he said. "But you gotta be hungry. You gotta want it."

The game starts at 1:35 p.m.
