SF Schools Beg Students to Skip Parade, Come To Class

That goes for teachers, too.

It's a Friday, it's Halloween, and the San Francisco Giants are parading down Market Street.

San Francisco Unified School District would like to tell you that your kids are in school, but they're not feeling so confident on that front.

Hooky is the word of the day when the Giants come to parade -- some 4,200 kids skipped school on Oct. 31, 2012, and public school administrators are praying that doesn't happen this time around.

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the school district superintendent as well as school board members are taking a hard line: school is in session, so you should be in school.

This message is going out via all channels: Twitter, Facebook, and auto-dial messages delivered to the voicemails of the 57,000 public school students' parents, the newspaper reported.

The same missive also went out to teachers and staff members from Superintendent Richard Carranza, who promised to be at work today himself.

Will it work? Judging by the sea of kids out there already, maybe not...
