Showtime's ‘The Franchise' Preview Wed Night

The much-anticipated reality show "The Franchise" -- the Showtime series about the Giants -- will make a special "first-look" premiere Wednesday night at 9:30 PM ET/PT on the premium channel.

The show, subtitled "A Season With the San Francisco Giants," is set to make it's season premiere on July 13th, but tonight's episode is a 30-minute look-ahead at the full series, which gets up-close in watching the Giants attempt to defend their World Series title.

Lest you might have forgotten, here's the awesomeness that should occur over the course of the series:

In Wednesday's "episode" there appear to be a slew of things that should interest Giants fans.

First of all, a showcasing of Pablo Sandoval's training techniques, which helped him lose a pile of pounds that were apparently "to satisfy a mandate by team management."

Then there's an up-close look at the story of Mark Kroon, a 38-year-old pitcher who holds the record for the fastest pitch every thrown in Japan.

Brandon Belt's effort to make the big-league club out of Spring Training (which he obviously did) is chronicled as well, which should be a fun way to personalize someone who represents the team's future.

And, lastly, per Showtime PR, the preview "will feature this past weekend's World Series ring ceremony.

So set your DVR -- and feel free to follow the show on Twitter @TheFranchiseSHO -- and get ready to start enjoying what should be one of the most entertaining sports series of the year.
