Bocce Championships Finals

THAT'S GAME: Bocce buffs will probably agree with us on this one, but there are few games that are as pleasant to spectate as the traditional playing of boules. The gentle rolling of the balls on lawns or sand, the slight knock sound produced by two balls gently tapping. And then there's the watching of the players, as they stand and surmise and plan and play. Nice. And on Saturday, July 2, that gentle rolling will take on further dimension at the closing ceremonies of the 2011 United States Bocce Championship. It's happening at Campo di Bocce in Livermore.

FINALS PLAYS: The Men's Qualifying finals get underway at 2 p.m. The victor will represent at the World Bocce Championships next May, which just happen to be in -- wait for it -- Livermore. Aw yeah. If you can't make it, but are still itching to get out among the jacks, Campo di Bocce does dining and play, even when finals and tourneys aren't on. Aw yeah again.
