Savor Sonoma Details Announced

Looking ahead to some nice merlots in March? It's a plan.

WHAT'S IN A NAME: Savor Sonoma Valley is one of the top tasting events on the valley's calendar, which is saying something, given that the calendar belongs to Sonoma, which, as you might have heard, tends to schedule a couple of wine events during the year. But the springtime, weekend-long soiree deserves the big props that come its way. After all, some 21 wineries throw their hat in (or perhaps corkscrew, gently) for two days of getting to know wine lovers and bringing out their best of the best. "Barrels" and "new releases" are the key words for this one, meaning oenophiles looking to step up their trying-fresh-stuff game should be satisfied.

OH, AND DATES? Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17. A fine way to spend St. Patrick's Day weekend, though you may see more green among the leaves on the vines.

PARTICIPATING WINERIES: Imagery Estate, Little Vineyards Family Winery, Moondance Cellars, and St. Francis Winery and Vineyards are just four of the 21 places that'll be barreling it up. Art, tunes, tours, picnics, and "culinary creations prepared by local chefs and restaurants" are in the mix, too. A weekend pass is $65.
