Sluggy Sweethearts Near Santa Cruz

BANANA SLUG SWEETNESS: Oh Valentine's. Props for your fancy vases and fancy perfumes and fancy cards and all the other dressy, delightful things you do. We like it all, but sometimes we want to play it natural, to just go to the woods and do our wooing there. Or find how wood dwellers woo. And we can, on Sunday, Feb. 13, at Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The woodly, chilled-out walk is called "Romance in the Redwoods," and it will focus on the mating dances of banana slugs and woodpeckers and ladybugs and even the big trees. Ohhh yeah. We only need to read "romance" and "banana slugs" once to know we have to go.

TIME: 11 a.m. on the 13th. Park HQ is the meeting spot. (Please note updated time.)
