OPENING DAYS: You know you live in a beautiful winter destination, or at least within driving distance of a beautiful winter destination, when there are multiple opening days to look forward to come the ski season. It isn't simply a matter of waiting on this one resort or that other hill to make its late-fall debut; rather, a dedicated down-hill-er has to keep track of several different opening dates over the course of a November and December. Such is the (fortunate) case of North Lake Tahoe, which has now seen a handful of its resorts make their in-time-for-Thanksgiving debuts, with more on the way.
OPEN AS OF NOV. 26: Northstar, Squaw Valley, Boreal Mountain Resort, and Mt. Rose -- Ski Tahoe are open for business.
COMING SOON: Sugar Bowl is set to have a reopen over the Dec. 1-2 weekend; Alpine Meadows and Tahoe Donner Ski Resort are aiming for Friday, Dec. 7. And coming in mid-December? Diamond Peak, Homewood Mountain Resort, and Granlibakken Resort are due to unlock the proverbial winter gates. Still on the TBA list: Soda Springs, Royal Gorge Cross Country, Tahoe Donner Cross Country, and a few more. A phone call or a spin by the mountain's URL is your best bet.
JUST AHEAD: Several days of preciptation are due heading into December, so those TBAs can turn in a day. For more North Lake Tahoe haps, including the holiday doings, you only need point your skis in this direction.
