Cheese Days at Grgich Hills

FACT: One can enjoy the consuming of cheese without knowledge of various ripeness levels and sour notes and the crumble factor. But. But. But if there is someone who can lend a bit more knowledge in that area, a someone who can easily explain why heavier veins in a blue is a good thing or why you want your gouda slightly chewy, well. We want to break brie with that someone. And we want to be guided. And if there is a glass of wine at the ready, so much the better. Grgich Hills is putting the focus on dairy delights over the Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28 weekend, and we are ready to be schooled.

ON THE SKED: The meeting of "artisan cheese mongers" and the tasting of Grgich Hills vinos. Tillamook, Pedrozo Dairy, and Redwood Hill Farm will all make a showing. Twenty five dollars nabs you a ticket, and an extra fiver gets you into the seminar. The hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rutherford winery. You might not want to come hungry, but definitely come snacky.
