WORKSHOPS AND MUSIC: Billed as "a three-day celebration of the infinite creative spirit within," the Esalen International Arts Festival incorporates a host of how-tos, dance lessons, mask-making for kids, and a class on intensive documentary filmmaking. There's also a workshop detailing the Culinary Arts of the Caribbean over the long holiday weekend. And raising joyful voices and good spirits at the center of it all? The International Music and Dance Festival on Saturday, July 2.
DETAILS OF THE DAY: San Francisco artist Meklit Hadero will be on the stage for the afternoon-long concert devoted to songs and spoken word; the Yuval Ron Ensemble will perform Mystical Music of the Middle East. There's a great variety of acts and songsters set for the day's line-up. Workshops are priced separately note, and the July 2 concert is $65.
