Happy Birthday, National Park Service

Find your way to a sublime setting, and pay nothing to enter, on Friday, Aug. 25.

If you dream of spending some time in a favorite national park, surrounded by trees, canyons, cliffs, and/or rivers, consider Friday -- the National Park Service's birthday is on Friday, Aug. 25. And that's...

A FREE DAY... at the 100+ fee-charging national parks around the nation. California is home to many parks that do not ask for an admission, but some do, like Yosemite National Park and Joshua Tree National Park. Enter either of those on Aug. 25 and skip the get-in fee at the gate. The NPS includes over 400 parks in all, so finding a much-loved location, or a totally new-to-you place, shouldn't be too difficult. The only very small challenge? Waiting on the next free day, which is on Sept. 30, 2017 in honor of National Public Lands Day. For all the information on the National Public Service and its fee-free calendar, click.
